Evening market tour
Night-market stalls such as Chang Phuak Gate, usually 2–4 hours and 8–10 dishes. Chiang Mai Street Food Tours charges ฿1,300 for about 3.5 hours on its own site; GetYourGuide lists a 2.5-hour version from about US$40 (approximate, from search results).
Lunchtime tasting
A Chef’s Tour runs 10:00–14:00 by songthaew truck with 15+ tastings and a wet market, for US$59 and groups of up to 8. Khao soi is one stop on that tour, not the whole tour.
Bike plus food
Co van Kessel’s Co Combo is 4 hours and about 13 km for ฿1,550, with street-food samples and a Northern Thai meal, starting at 08:00 or 14:00. Chiang Mai Bicycle and Thailand Biking run bike-and-food rides too (see the note under the table).
MICHELIN-themed walks
Small-group walks through MICHELIN-recommended stops start from about US$25–40 for 2–2.5 hours on GetYourGuide (approximate); private or longer versions reach about US$78–90 on booking aggregators. The restaurants themselves are on the MICHELIN Guide page.
Morning market walk
Warorot (Kad Luang) market has morning walks too. GetYourGuide lists a Local Food and Markets Guided Walking Tour; its price and duration were not checked.
When to skip a tour
A tour pays for a guide, a route and logistics such as pickup, a songthaew or bikes. A 2026 Chiang Mai guide estimates the same dishes cost about ฿150–300 eaten independently, against roughly ฿1,200–2,000 for a 3–4 hour tour. Skip it if you are watching your budget, if you already know what you want to eat, or if you eat vegetarian: Chiang Mai Street Food Tours says its evening tour is not recommended for vegetarians. Take one if you have a single evening and want 8 to 15+ tastings chosen for you, or want to cover ground by bike.
The do-it-yourself route. The Khao Soi Trail covers khao soi, a stop on A Chef’s Tour’s lunchtime tour that is easy to eat on your own. The MICHELIN Guide list shows the listed places, and cheap eats lists top-rated meals under ฿300. The atlas tracks 259 Chiang Mai restaurants in all.
Booking: direct or GetYourGuide
GetYourGuide shows guest reviews on each listing; check the cancellation terms on the one you pick. Operators’ own sites set their own terms, so ask about deposits and changes before you pay.

Food tour questions
How much does a Chiang Mai food tour cost?
Operator prices seen in October 2026: ฿1,300 for an evening market tour of about 3.5 hours (฿850 for children aged 8–15), ฿1,550 for a 4-hour bike-and-food tour, and US$59 for a 4-hour lunchtime tasting tour. A 2026 guide puts the typical range at ฿1,200–2,000 for 3–4 hours. Shorter MICHELIN-themed walks start from about US$25–40 on GetYourGuide (approximate).
What is the difference between an evening and a lunchtime food tour?
An evening tour covers night-market stalls, usually 2–4 hours and 8–10 dishes. A Chef’s Tour runs 10:00–14:00 by songthaew truck with 15+ tastings, a wet market and khao soi, for groups of up to 8.
Are Chiang Mai food tours suitable for vegetarians?
Chiang Mai Street Food Tours says on its own site that its evening tour is not recommended for vegetarians. Diet details for the other tours were not checked, so ask the operator before you book.
Is a food tour worth it, or can I eat the same dishes myself?
A 2026 Chiang Mai guide estimates the same dishes cost about ฿150–300 when eaten independently, against ฿1,200–2,000 for a 3–4 hour tour. The extra pays for the guide, the route and logistics such as pickup, a songthaew or bikes, so if you already know what you want to eat, going alone is much cheaper.
